Press Release: Raised by Wolves, Possibly Monsters – From Mobster to Reiki Master

Healthy Masculinity

Where is healthy masculinity in the news? Headlines today are filled with men abusing women – from Sean “Diddy” Combs to the Frenchman accused of raping his wife and allowing other men to do so.

These stories beg these questions: Can men be reformed and changed? What role can men play in making the world safe for women?

Raised by Wolves, Possibly Monsters - From Mobster To Reiki Master - Michael Swerdloff- Healthy Masculinity

Author MICHAEL SWERDLOFF, who received training from the DALAI LAMA among other revered teachers, gives an honest account of discovering healthy masculinity from the inside out in his new book – RAISED BY WOLVES, POSSIBLY MONSTERS: FROM MOBSTER TO REIKI MASTER.

As the book’s name suggests, Michael’s life wasn’t always calm and peaceful but one filled with violence and aggression. Next month, talk to Michael about his long journey from being an abusive real-life mobster to a holistic counselor and life coach – and ways he helps men (and women) live in a safe environment filled with positivity and self-respect.

A portion of the proceeds from the book will be given to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) and The Good Men Project.

A SAFER WORLD FOR WOMEN

in Raised By Wolves, Possibly Monsters: From Mobster To Reiki Master

BY author MICHAEL SWERDLOFF

Not everyone finds their way to the other side of darkness. Yet, there is hope in witnessing the depth and commitment of a person willing to try to be better without knowing exactly how. In RAISED BY WOLVES, POSSIBLY MONSTERS: FROM MOBSTER TO REIKI MASTER – author MICHAEL SWERDLOFF captures his own struggle to transcend his past of crime and abuse – and imagine an entirely new future for himself premised on compassion, care, and advocacy.

As a boy, Michael was taught to choose violence and aggression. As a young adult, Michael saw women as his to take and lied, cheated, and scammed his way through life. All along, Michael really wanted to be kind and loving and a protector of women – but ended up being what they needed protection from.

During his dark days as a mobster – Michael had a loaded gun put to his head and was shot at more than once, was stabbed, and was attacked with a baseball bat. He conned, hustled, and stole from other criminals, drug dealers, and gangs.

That was over 30 years ago, and since then, Michael has completely changed. He has become a counselor, helping men gain insights, experiences, and potential steps to shift their mindset and behavior. For women who have had problematic men in their lives, Michael helps them understand why many men act the way they do and that they can change.

The book is a story about hope and teaching men that they can be the person they always knew they could be.

“Wow! Intense and powerful! I don’t think I have ever read anything that has inspired me to be a better man as much as this book!” – DeSean Walker, Advanced Reader Copy Review

“The biggest take away I had from reading Michael’s book is a deep appreciation how rare it is for a man to come forward, take responsibility for past harmful behavior, and demonstrate a path towards healing, growth, and atonement while fully owning his missteps. This book could be a great resource for men to look at their own past behaviors that resulted in harm towards women and to see a path forward. As a woman, I also found it to be such a breath of fresh air to see a real life example of how it is possible for a man to take action steps toward becoming a better person and ally for women without trying to hide/diminish past transgressions.” – Lisa G, Advanced Reader Copy Review
