Do Feelings Matter? Refections on Feelings in Our Lives

I was recently reading an article in Psychology Today, Life Lessons: 16 Truths to Embrace Now. Providence Holistic Counseling Services is listed in Psychology Today, so I receive a print copy monthly. I rarely read the articles because they feel like typical pop culture, with sensationalistic headlines and not a lot of solid content. I also find that the cover is typically an image of a young, white, attractive, thin female Photoshopped to look seductive with thick lipstick covering parted lips. An embarrassment to the industry.  Now and then, I am wrong, and they dig a little deeper. The ideas of the various writers who contributed to this article are helpful and well-written. One of them referenced how the current generation of young adults places a great preference on what they feel and their emotions. This got me thinking. The question that came to mind is, "Do feelings matter?" Do Feelings Matters? Refections on Feelings in Our Lives - Providence Holistic Counseling Services ...

How To Listen to Your Intuition

When you are trying to make an important decision, everyone you ask in some form or another will recommend, "Listen to your intuition". This is excellent advice, but often not helpful. For most people, the challenge is not wanting to listen to your intuition; it is knowing how to effectively listen to your intuition. I invite you to join me as we explore different methods on how to listen to your intuition. 1 is 2 Many: Men Standing Against Sexual Assault

It is both inspiring and somewhat comical to be putting your focus in the same place as the White House. Pres. Obama and VP Biden have just released a new PSA as part of their, 1 is 2 Many campaign, including famous male actors, The President and Vice President themselves supporting and standing against sexual assault and violence towards women. It is great to see famous men standing up for women. But I can't lie; the first thing that came to my mind was, "It's about time!" ...

Something inside of me said, "I need to read this." I am so glad that I did. This is a very inspiring and beautifully written article on being a parent, partner, friend, and human being....

Overcoming Fear is Not as Easy as a Bumper Sticker Slogan

I bumped into this article today by accident: Overcoming Fear is Not as Easy as a Bumper Sticker Slogan. I am very grateful for this and the many accidents I make that guide me to where I need to be, not always where I want to be. Overcoming fear can be paralyzing to some people in certain circumstances. Fear is the four-letter word that begins with "F," which can feel like a much dirtier word than its profane counterpart F**K. I remember hearing something annoying, cute, and comforting many years ago: FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real. ...
